Monika Norvilaitė was born in Lithuania however, for the majority of her life she was raised in Dover, England. Monika Norvilaitė graduated from De Montfort University in 2020 with a BA in Fashion Textile Design. Captivating patterns, bold colour and the elevation of shape and form have been her signature style from the beginning. Monika Norvilaitė’s collections reflect her bright personality and sense of humour.
“I want to express that knitwear does not predominantly have to be stripes, I am constantly searching for interesting ways to play around with patterns and colour.”
The designs on display are all created by Monika Norvilaitė, from the dubied machine, to creating digital knit patterns, there are no limits to her achieving a desired pattern. Her love for expanding simple shapes and strong colour have stemmed from her childhood homestead of old-fashioned, densely patterned clothing that was popular at the time. Although, this is not her only source of inspiration; the towering rectangles of New York, the central Triangle of Paris. Monika Norvilaitė’s globetrotting has allowed her to find influences all over the world. From knitting miniature scarves for her barbies, to graduating university in Leicester, Monika Norvilaitė’s ambitions are apparent in her fashion journey.
